Floor Buffer Machines & Burnishers

Floor Buffers

Buffer machines clean, polish, shine and wax floors and do a great job providing extra shine to polish nearly any surface to hard wood and hard surface floors. Buffer machines can be a little tough to use (They are heavy!) but once you have the basics down they really help in making your floors look great..

Professional floor cleaners use buffing machines to polish and buff the floors. It works much better than hand mopping and hand polishing. The two major types of buffing machines: floor buffers and orbital polishers. A floor buffer is a type of sander with a polishing pad. It is a heavy duty unit.. Orbital polishers are less powerful but are easier to use, less expensive and more suited for home use.

To get started, lift the base up and ensure the scrub brush or polishing pad is clean and free of any dirt or debris or you risk scratching your floor. Buff the floor starting from the back of the room working your way to the front. It's important to buff from the left to the right as you make your way back to the entrance. You need to keep tight control of the unit and ensure that you keep the cord out of your way.

Start by spreading the polish evenly across the floor you are buffing. Start buffing and keep the buffer moving steadily as you work. Check the pad at set interval to ensure it does not become overly dirty or caked with your polishing products. Buff a single section at a time, starting with the least abrasive cleaning polish that is effective. Buffers rotate clockwise, so you should clean in a left to right motion This will also help prevent buffer burns. Check the buffer pad or brush at steady intervals, rinse or change any filthy pads or brushes. If the pads are dirty, you'll just be spreading a fine layer of dirt and grime on your floor which is counter productive

When you are done buffing your floors, remove the buffer pad or scrubbing brush from the machine. Clean all the pads and brushes immediately. Do not leave the pads or brushes on the machine as the combination of dampness combined with and weight of the machine will damage your cleaning accessories.

Buffer Pads

There are two types of pads: cutting pads & polishing pads. Cutting pads are much more abrasive, and more effective, but can leave marks and swirls patterns easily if not used properly. They are usually made of natural fibers such as wool. Polishing pads are used for finishing. They are made of foam rubber are much less abrasive and can be used on almost any surface.

You should always use safety goggles when using a buffer machine or burnisher..

Burnishers

High speed and detergents generates heat that creates a glossy and highly resistant shine on the floor. When cleaning and using a burnisher, a few steps are worth following for a better cleaning and high shine result.

  • What kind of floor:: Is it vinyl, linoleum, polyurethane, wood, stone, etc.
  • What type of soil on the floor? Oil, grease, varnish, glue, food, spilled liquid, etc.
  • What is the best cleaning product to clean the floor? Acid, alkaline, neutral, disinfection polymer, wax etc.
  1. Scrub from right to left to keep the cleaning solution around the entire area to be burnished
  2. Work backwards from the back of the room to the front to prevent walking on the already cleaned area
  3. Work in a straight line and overlap by approx. one third of the machine width
  4. Work sideways when burnishing from left to right.
