Bath Mat Stain

How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

Bath Mat Stain

Postby Bobbin » Wed Jun 06, 2007 6:23 pm

Hi everyone! I have a nasty problem that I have no clue how to fix!

I'm renting an apartment with new lino floors... and this evening when I got out of the shower, I accidently kicked up the bath mat and revealed a horrifying yellow stain on the floor... in the exact shape of the bath mat.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how to lift this, I would be so greatful!
Thank you so much!

Linoleum information

Postby mrscleannw » Tue Jul 24, 2007 12:55 pm

Hello and welcome to Mrs. Clean's forum. I have some information for you that you may be relieved to read regarding linoleum floors:

* Any yellowing from being hidden from light (floors under appliances, for example) will “bloom” or come back to normal coloring with exposure of light
* Linoleum doesn’t get scratched as easily as vinyl, and when it is scratched, the pattern doesn’t wear off since it’s embedded

But be aware that:

* Like wood, linoleum is sensitive to water and acidic chemicals like vinegar
* You have to wax it more often than you have to seal vinyl flooring.

I would use a bath mat only when you get out of the shower/bath to let the area be exposed to light and see if that remedies the situation. Sounds too easy! You may read the full article at: http:/www.mrscleannw.com/tips/linoleum-floors.com This will give you proper cleaning and maintenance information. Let me know if you still have issues with the yellowing and I will give you further info.
