cast iron pan stains on white sink

How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

cast iron pan stains on white sink

hello I love using my cast iron skillet and dutch oven as often as I can, but when the pans end up in the sink and rub on the sink surface they leave marks all over. I've scrubbed with scotch brite and an abrasive cleaning agent with no luck. any suggestions?

well if you're stumped maybe it would help to break down what I think the stains could actualy be made of. either raw iron, iron oxide(rust), or the seasoning from the pan (baked on oil). anyone have suggestions for those kind of stains on a white I'm guessing porcelain sink

Hello hooligan,
Welcome to the forum!
I have a few suggestions to try but if the porcelain is damaged or has lost its finish, be careful, because some cleansers can actually make it worse. If this is the case, you may have a permanent stain and you should consult a professional.
If the porcelain is still in good shape, you can try these tricks:

• Baking soda works wonders on many stains. Just wet the sink, sprinkle some baking soda and a few drops of dish soap, scrub well, and rinse thoroughly.
• Mix cream of tartar with hydrogen peroxide to form a paste. Coat the stained area and leave on until the paste dries. Then scrub the residue off with a non-scratching scrub sponge. The stain should come off with it.
• Try soaking the stains in a mixture of lemon juice and salt, then rinse clean.
• You can also try CLR Cleaner or another rust removal product. Just be cautious, as these cleaners are toxic. Be sure to follow the directions and wear protective goggles and gloves.

Good Luck and let me know how it turns out!

That happens to my sink all the time, I love cooking in cast iron. Whenever I get those black marks, I just use Bon Ami or baking soda, both work well!
