Cleaning out the coal bin

Postby Kris » Wed May 05, 2010 12:02 pm

We have a coal bin in our cellar with coal still in it. I would love to clean it out and use the space for storage. I just dont know how to get rid of the coal. Can I just throw it in the weekly trash pickup? Is it considered hazardous? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I cant find any info on what I should do with it!!

Hello Kris,

Do you know how many pounds of coal you have? Do you know what type of coal it is and where it comes from?

You may want to place an ad on craigslist. There are still coal burning stoves used and you just may find a buyer. I am not sure what the going rate is per ton or by the pound but I did find a person who bought coal from a craigslist ad for $220 for 3,000 pounds of coal.

Also if you handle it, make sure to wear a mask as you don’t want to breathe the coal dust and wear gloves and old clothes to keep from getting coal dust all over you.

Good Luck.

I just need to ask you, here that have you heard about brick powder as, I know it will be little different for you to understand what I am actually trying to say as, brick powder and dry coconut hair is the best to remove such hard stains mainly the coal from that bin and believe me it will give you the best result. try this.

Thanks
