dish liquid recipe

Postby samantha1898 » Thu Oct 08, 2009 4:29 am

hi,

can i use a combination of Borax and vinegar or baking soda and vinegar to wash dish?? i do not have a dishwashing machine. or if you can share with me a good recipe to make a good dish wash liquid with these ingredients better. how to make a dish wash liquid to have viscosity/consistancy??

About washing soda, i have seen that i must use gloves to use it. i want to understand: the gloves i must use when preparing my cleaner only, or i have to use them always even with the product finished and every time i use it??

Any idea about making natural cleaning products for sale and profit.

I appreciate your help

Samantha,
Thank you for stopping in at Mrs. Clean.

Washing soda is highly alkaline; on the ph scale it’s an 11, it is caustic and can burn your skin. You don’t want to get it near your eyes. Due to it's high alkalinity it "boosts" or improves the effectiveness of detergents.

Borax is a mineral, also highly alkaline and is used as a natural laundry booster as a component of detergents, multipurpose cleaner and disinfectant. (It's also used as an insecticide, so it must be toxic)

These two ingredients are usually combined, in one form or another, to make automatic dishwasher soap. (not hand dishwashing liquid) Since the mixture is alkaline, exposure to the ingredients will end up chapping, reddening or burning the skin. You will need to wear gloves when using alkaline ingredients to protect your skin and eyes when making your product and when using it. I do not recommend using this to hand wash dishes.

I found some great resources on using these ingredients to make dishwasher soap below.

I have heard about some recipe for Plastic Dishes, Cups etc...
Have liquid bleach and add that in water. Add salt and lemon into it. And now dip the dishes into that water for whole night. These will definitely shine next day.
And yeah the water should warm.
