Fresh tea stains in clothing

How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

Fresh tea stains in clothing

Postby srv524 » Thu Apr 29, 2010 7:34 am

So alas, another time where I spilled tea on my dress shirt. When I use the tide to-go pens, they remove the stain, but then leave behind a big splotch where the outline of the to-go pen liquid was. This leaves a bigger circle, though less noticable than the brown tea stain.
My question is...what can I use at work? I've read about a vinegar/water spray, but I need something that I can use right away and will soak it up so I don't get stains. When I wash the clothes, the stain comes out, but meanwhile I have to walk around an office setting with this splotch on my shirt for the 1000+ sales people I work with to see. If it's a spray mixture I can make it and keep it at my desk, BUT I want something I can use right away that I can use at my desk and won't take 2 hours or scrubbing to get out.

Any idears?

Thanks!

Hello srv524 and Welcome to Mrs. Clean’s Forum!
We all have those coffee accidents…especially when wearing white! A great all-purpose cleaner for almost any kind of stain is club soda. It helps to keep stains from setting in clothes and it is easy to keep a small bottle handy at work.
To use:
1. Blot the area dry with an absorbent cloth. Do not rub it.
2. Use a cloth to dab on club soda. Keep blotting until stain disappears. Club soda keeps the stain from setting.
Other emergency cleaners are: Hydrogen peroxide and shaving cream. Sometimes it depends on the type of stain you have. See full details on removing stains from our house cleaning tips site- house cleaning central.

Hope this helps!

Treat stains as immediately as possible before it settles in. Quick fix can be shaving cream. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Remember, never rub the stain; only blot. This will prevent from spreading. You can then rinse off with water.

Depending on the fabric, never try any strong chemicals to remove the stain. Results can be different from fabric to fabric. If the safe quick fixes don't seem to work out, trust the laundry or dry cleaner and you should have it all done.
