Hello From Paisley, Scotland & Help!

Postby trystcleaners » Wed Jun 15, 2011 6:12 am

We are Tryst Cleaners here in Scotland. I am praying that i will get some help here.

We are having problems removing oil stains from a heavy traffic area for one of our clients. We have tried most of these expensive cleaners hoping that they woul dod the job. We really want to get this area clean, so anyone with some help will be greatly appreciated.

P.S We have even tried scrubbing with a hard broom but it doesn't help.

Thank you and i look forward to this forum!

Hello there and welcome,

Can you tell us what type of floor you are trying to clean and what type of cleaners you have tried to use.

Thank you.

Thank you.

The most recent cleaner we have tried and are currently using on it is written HG , Clean & Shine, they say its heavy duty but all we see is the shine after but the floor is still not clean.

Its a concrete floor with some type of glittery shiny things. The type that is usually common in Care Homes. I do not know the precise name for it but its definately not vinyl.

Hello,

Thank you for sending us the information but I still think we more in order to help you further. I am still a little unsure what the shiny things are on the floor and when you state that it is definitely not vinyl do you mean it's a concrete floor with a type of floor covering the concrete? I think we need a picture in order to help you further.

HG Clean & Shine makes products for many different types of floor - it sounds as if you have done a good job polishing the floor but unfortunately it may only have helped to set the oil stain.

Send us a clear, high resolution image of the floor and a section of floor with the stains. If the image is too large for the forum post, email the pictures to the email address listed at the bottom of the About Us page which you can find here: http://www.mrscleanusa.com/en/cleaning- ... ut-us.html

I just came back from cleaning that place again today. The floor type is called Altro Contrax, apparently it has some antibacterial properties hence its used in clinical places, its the wrong floor for the place, they need more robust flooring. I will take some pictures when i go there on Monday as i only saw your reply this minute.

Thank you for your time and help

Hello again,

So this is a pretty heavy duty anti-slip flooring you're cleaning. It looks like the wheels from the chairs are leaving those stains?

Here are a few things you can try:

Tennis Ball:

For this you'll need a tennis ball and a wooden dowel or something similar. Make a hole in the tennis ball a little smaller than the dowel (at least half way through the tennis ball), then glue the dowel in the hole and let dry.

You don't necessarily need the dowel but it will help not having to bend your back as much. Rub the tennis ball over the streaked area. You don't need to use a cleaner, just start rubbing the tennis ball across the floor.

You might want to try the tennis ball first before adding the dowel, just to make sure it works before going to the extra trouble.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser:

The Magic Eraser is a must have in any cleaning arsenal. It works great for black marks on floors, walls, works great on some bathroom surfaces, and much more.

Pink School Eraser:

This is an inexpensive cleaning solution: Try erasing the marks using the same type of eraser at the end of a pencil..

One of these suggestions should work for you unless the product you have been using has built up over the top.

I went out to the Altro ContraX website and found their recommended cleaning methods, one for manual and one for mechanical cleaning.

This might be of some help to you. If our suggestions don't work, you may want to contact the manufacturer of the floor and see what they suggest.
