HELP! HOUSEHOLD ITEM CHECKLIST NEEDED!

Postby keepinclean » Tue Sep 02, 2008 6:05 pm

Hi there

I've searched numerous search engines and decided to resort to my new favorite website for help on this. My husband and I are moving in about a month and I am stocking up now on things we'll need when we move out (as far as cleaning, laundry, etc. go). I want to make sure I don't forget a thing, someone please help me out ASAP. THANKS A BUNCH!

So far I have:
Laundry Detergent
Fabric Softner
Paper Towels
Toilet Paper
A Laundry Basket
A Garbage Can
A Clothes dry rack
A Utensil organizer for the spoons, knives, forks, etc.
Dishwasher Detergent
(2) Febreze Noticeables Starter Kits

I know I still need:
A lint roller
Drawer Liners (those..(don't know the name) ones that come in a roll and you cut to size)
Hangers
Windex
A can of Comet
Dish Soap (for the sink, not dish washer)
Carpet Deodorizer (the sprinkle kind that you vacuum up)
Toilet Bowl cleaner
Toilet Bowl scrub brush.......

What else?

Hello keepinclean and welcome to the forum!
Moving is very stressful and it is great that you are organizing before the move! I can definitely give you a few more items to stock up on if you will provide a little more information.
Is the list for:
A) A move out cleaning and you are renting the place out so you need to leave things for the new tenants?
B) A list for your new place only?
C) Just for cleaning the old place and moving into the new place?
Please let me know so that I will be able to provide the best suggestions.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Mrs. Clean

Hello

I'll be vacating my current home and moving into my apartment. When we moved to our current home we didn't have any sort of cleaning list, at all. I just went about buying things as time passed. This time I want to be ready, and if able to do so, maybe scale down the cleaning supplies a little, I feel at times that I have all these products that I could probably do without.
So far I have one trash can for the pantry/storage closet off the kitchen area. I'll probably buy a trash can for the bathroom, should I buy one for each of the bedrooms as well?
I have a bag less vacuum so the bag part I can skip obviously. I would LOVE to upgrade to a Dyson someday ( it's at the top of my wish list for Christmas  ).
I'd like to know what I can use to get rid of the oily grease substance I noticed in the tracks of the sliding glass door to the balcony, is there something I can use to dissolve it? What is a good product to use to kill any odor causing bacteria such as what might be found in a trash can? I'd like to opt for anything natural if possible, we have a little one who likes to get into things
If you can think of anything else to add to my list, I'd really appreciate it, I want to be ready this time around! Thanks again!

I forgot to ask...I've heard of the Magic Eraser many times, and have heard great things about them, is there anything in particular they work well for/on? Maybe (finally!) there could be a cure for the crayon on the wall culprit in our home (lol)? Thanks!

Great question about the Magic Eraser. We use the Magic Eraser here at Mrs Clean. The teams seem to love them for many issues. To answer your question about crayon on the wall? Yes magic eraser is a good tool to use on getting that off. Get the eraser wet and gently rub on the crayon on the wall and it takes it off very easily. You may try it on a part of the wall that is not so noticeable first. Then go after the crayon mark if it looks safe for your wall surface.

The Magic Eraser is great for most surfaces. After using the Magic Eraser use a damp cloth to wipe down the surface. You can always try it first on a spot that you do not see to make sure it is safe for any of your surfaces. Good luck and go to town after that crayon culprit in your home!
