How to Clean a Leather Sofa

Postby christ123 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 1:31 am

So you’ve spilled an unidentifiable substance onto your leather sofa. Or, worse, your way-cool leather jacket. No worries: leather isn’t very difficult to clean.
For best results, make sure you have the following at your fingertips:
* Two damp cloths
* Saddle soap
* A dry towel
* Leather conditioner

Using one damp cloth, rub the saddle soap into the leather until a lather has formed. Then, use the other damp cloth to wipe away the lather. After that, run a dry towel over the leather to polish the leather. Finally, rub the leather with leather conditioner.

Of course, this method might not work for all leather products. Many cleaning experts suggest contacting leather cleaning professionals in the event of stains resulting from beer, chocolate, paint or blood.

Hey the tips are really very good to know and to apply as, we cannot use water on leather as it will shrink the leather so, better to use leather conditioners that will will keep the softness and cleans it away and makes it fragrant.

Thanks

Great tips!

Can be used for not-so-harsh stains. If they are stubborn, better not to try out products by yourself as leather needs special care and treatment. Get upholstery cleaning experts in that case.

A point note worthy here is that it's never to be cleaned rubbing the stains away with water. So thanks for the tip! :-)

Really great tips..
For leather sofa cleaning, it's safe to use a good moisturizing soap like Dove. To clean, simply dampen a soft cloth with warm water and lather with soap. Rub over the sofa to remove any dirt and stains. Don't use too much water. There's no need to rinse after cleaning, simply polish the leather with a damp cloth so the moisturizing soap will condition the leather.

Some More Tips on How to clean lather sofa...

Postby mold removal tampa » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:57 pm

Hello Friends,

Here i also have some tips for cleaning of lather sofa that may help you... :)

=> To make your own leather cleaner/conditioner combine 1 part distilled white vinegar and 2 parts linseed oil.

=> Evenly wipe down the entire surface of the sofa and buff out with a second clean rag or microfiber clothe until the surface regains its original look and all moisture is removed.

=> Once it dries out, it will crack, become rough, and fall apart. If you do not need to clean the sofa, make sure that you still wipe it down with the linseed oil at least once every couple of months.

=> These cleaning tips will also work on your car’s leather interior.
