oil on leather jacket

Help!

My husband has spilt an olive oil-based dressing onto his soft tan-coloured leather jacket about 1 week ago. He tried using saddlesoap liquid cleaner on it last night, to no avail. It is unwearable at the moment, and it is his pride and joy, bought during our honeymoon in Italy last year. He is very distressed. Any suggestions PLEASE???

Hello angel1,
Welcome to the forum!
Yes, removing stains from leather can be a bit of a challenge, but it can be done!

Try this trick:
-Blot the oil stained area with a soft, dry cloth.
-Place cornstarch on the soiled area and allow it to sit for 24 hours.
-Gently wipe the cornstarch off with a clean, soft cloth.

The cornstarch should draw the stain out by absorbing the moisture.
There are plenty more tips on caring for leather on House Cleaning Central.

Good Luck and let me know how it turns out!

hello
"The protection cream adds a stain resistant layer to leather repelling all liquid stains and drastically reducing stains from clothing and cushions. as well as retaing dirt on the surface so it can be easily cleaned in the future."

I had some stains on leather sofa and jacket from oil, i removed them with help of baking soda, i guess it's the cheapest way. Soda acts like a absorbing material for oil, so it easily can remove stain.
