pale mark on black vinyl floor

Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism. It includes lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

we've kinda been left in charge of my girlfriends parents house for two weeks and on cleaning up today found a sorta pale mark on the black vinyl floor almost like the colours been drained out of it but we havent really used any nasty cleaning product on it or anything? we mightve had a backpack or motorbike helmet on that spot for the last day or two but thats about it? very confused about its origin and probably gonna have our heels warmed when they get back any light you could shed on this would be appreciated :-(

Vinyl usually does not take a lot of care.

Vinyl can discolor if certain chemicals come in contact with it. Certainly solvents and harsh chemicals can discolor it. If you can tell that the vinyl material itself has lightened, then the mark is likely permanent.

If you think there is a substance that has become embedded in the vinyl material, you can try rubbing alcohol to see if it will lift the stain. Hair Spray will remove ink based stains from vinyl, so you might try this as well. Oxy Clean works on some stains on vinyl flooring.

Just remember to test this in an inconspicuous place first to avoid any further possible damage. It might take a bit of scrubbing, but make sure that you do not use any abrasives or scrubbing pads.

If you cannot remove the discoloration you might consider using a suitable vinyl dye like ColorBond.

If none of these solutions work you may need to call a professional floor cleaning company.

Good luck with your stain. I hope these tips help you out.
