My daughter got pizza sauce all over her cheering uniform. Right on the white lettering. Please help! I have tried dishwashing soap, baking soda, ice. Nothing is working...

Hello amysue7 and welcome to the forum.
Is the uniform polyester with embroidered lettering?

There are a few things you can try. We always recommend you always test first on an inconspicuous spot whenever possible.
Remember: When working with stains, use cold water, do not put in the dryer as this will “set” the stain. Always try and wash according to the garments instructions.

Detergent
Dawn dishwashing detergent. Polyester is impervious to most stains, but not oil or grease. If you feel like any oil residue is a component of the stain pour the detergent right onto the stain and let sit for 30 minutes then wash under tap with cold water.

Peroxide (A safe bleach alternative)
Use hydrogen peroxide (3% medicinal grade). It is safe for all fabrics and will not yellow, damage, or degrade polyester. Put a paper towel behind the fabric where the stain is, pour hydrogen peroxide on the fabric, cover with a plastic wrap; hydrogen peroxide converts to plain water when exposed to light, then place a towel on top to keep the stained area dark. Let sit for about an hour, remove the towel and plastic to see if the stain has lightened. If it has then repeat the process until the stain is completely removed.

Coke (not Diet)
Sounds funny but quite a few people say they have had good luck using this method for removing some stains. Empty a can or liter of coke (depending on how many clothes you are washing) into your washer with your regular detergent. I might also be tempted to pour some straight on the stain and let it set for a few minutes before washing. But you will have to use your best judgment.

Here is a link to the Coke site with some interesting information you might like to read. http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/cont ... eaner.html

Club Soda
Pour club soda onto the stain, leave for a few minutes, rinse with cold water then launder as usual.
You may need to repeat the process on any of these methods until the stains are gone.
