removing brass cleaner

How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

How do you remove brass cleaner from clothes? My son tried to shine his brass while it was still on his uniform and now I don't know how to remove it safely. Please help.

Hello rebekki,
Welcome to the Mrs. Clean Forum!
Brass cleaner is usually a petroleum based product. Petroleum based stains can be very difficult to remove from fabric. But not to worry, there are ways to remove those stubborn stains.

I would suggest trying Un-Du Candle Wax Remover. It works wonderfully to remove wax or petroleum based stains.

You can also try the heavy duty mechanics hand cleaner called ‘Goop.’ It is designed to remove motor oil stains, which are of course, petroleum based. You can find it in many retail outlets and online. Goop can also be used on fabric. There is some information on their website http://goophandcleaner.com/

Another tough grease fighter is Dawn dish liquid. Apply a few drops directly on the stain, and then scrub it into the stain with a toothbrush. Let the dish soap set on the stain for a few moments and then launder as usual.

There are some additional tips and tricks for removing stains here

Remember, do not put the fabric in the dryer until the stain is gone! The heat from the drier will ‘set’ the stain, making it even more difficult to remove. You may need to repeat a stain removal step a few times to completely remove the stains.

Good Luck, and let me know how it turns out!
