Salon Hot and Cold Wax on bathroom Tiles

How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

Salon Hot and Cold Wax on bathroom Tiles

Postby Elainembent » Thu Apr 17, 2008 12:24 am

I do my own waxing at home and over the past couple of months I have become a bit clumsy  and have dripped some hot wax, the kind that requires no material strips you just wait for the wax to dry and pull it straight off, on my bathroom tiles. I have not been able to remove this little drips.

However, a must bigger situation has arising. I keep my wax in a wicker basket under the bathroom sink, and when in the bathroom the other day I noticed what appeared to be a stain under the basket. When I opened the basket I saw that the other type of wax I have, cold wax that require the combined use with material strips but does not need to be heated, had fallen over and a huge “blob” had spilt out onto the bathroom tiles. I cannot remove this either.

Would you be able to give me any advice on how to remove these?

Removing wax from tiles

Hello Elainembent and Welcome to Mrs. Clean's Forum.
I'm sure that I can give you a few things to try, but I will need more information first. What kind of tiles are they? (stone, marble, terracotta, ceramic etc.) and are they sealed? This will make a difference on which method you will need to use. Let me know.

Wax on tiles

Postby mrscleannw » Wed May 28, 2008 11:46 am

Hello Elainembent and Welcome back to Mrs. Clean's Forum!

I have a few suggestions to try for your situation. (I am assuming that your tile is sealed).

There is a commercial product that works really well to remove candle wax and its stain. It may work in your situation. It is called Un-Du Candle Wax Remover. Just a few drops of the candle wax remover will dissolve wax and you won't need to use an iron or scrape to remove the wax. I have actually tried this product, and it works really well.

Another reccomendation is to place a clean cotton cloth over the wax stain on the tile. Place a warm iron on the cloth and the wax will melt and be absorbed into the towel.
Be sure to start with a lower temperature first. Repeat this process if necessary using a new towel to keep pulling the melted wax from the tile. Be careful when using this method. I would use it in the most inconspicous place first and keep checking under the cloth.

Best of luck and let me know how it turns out!
