Postby kris0326 » Sat May 05, 2007 8:45 am

We recently purchased a new house. The tile is a dark gray and the grout is suppose to be a charcol color. However, the grout as white in it from the sheet rock dust. How can I get it out. Also, when I mop the floor, around the edges is looks white.
Please help. I have tried baking soda and oxy clean so far.

Unwanted white grout

Hello kris0326 and welcome to Mrs. Clean's Forum!

I can suggest grout cleaners that you can purchase at stores such as Lowe's, Home Depot etc. They are made specifically to remove residue, stains etc. Be sure to read the directions as there are cleaners AND strippers. If you use a stripper, you will have to re-seal the grout.

If all else fails, I have tried grout colorant at the dismay of my contractor. He was set against it, but the grout was too light and I wanted it darker. I used the colorant and it still looks great to this day. (2 years later). Check in to home improvement stores for this also.

Good Luck,
Mrs. Clean
