As spring is arriving shortly, I know that all you cleaners out there are gearing up for busy season. As it gets sunnier, rooms light up and all the dust becomes much more visible. Suddenly what seemed fairly clean a month ago, now appears positively dirty. This is especially true with windows. When it is gray outside, window grime is barely noticeable, if at all. However the sunnier it gets the dirtier the windows will start to look.
I know that a lot of house cleaners declare that they "do not do windows", but you are leaving a lot of potential money on the table by skipping this great service.
True, cleaning windows properly takes knowledge and experience, but it is not as hard as many people think. However, if you do not relish the idea of climbing up a ladder or using a heavy extension pole to clean exterior windows, you can always tell customers that you will clean all the inside windows.
By having you clean the inside windows, the customer will save some money because house cleaners typically charge around $20 an hour to clean, while window cleaners charge $30-$40 an hour. Plus you will make it easier for your client by not having to have rough and tumble window cleaners tromping through the inside of their house possibly with dirty shoes.
If you are thinking about cleaning windows with a cloth and spray bottle, however, you need to upgrade your window cleaning skills. Using a squeegee is the only way to really get windows as clean as they can be. If you are intimidated by the humble squeegee, fear not, it is not as hard as you may think. It just takes a little practice.
I explain everything you need to know in my article http://www.squidoo.com/window-cleaning-made-easier
Plus, there's even a video for those of you who need a visual demonstration (like me!). If you have any questions feel free to go to my website and email me your inquiries.
Good Luck!
