My samovar(type of teapot) boiled over and splashed on my wall. It is painted with latex paint. How do I remove these stains? Can I just paint over them or will it show through?

Hello eesl,

Here are a couple of things you can try before repainting.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser:
First try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This is a very handy cleaning tool to have on hand. Works for so many things around the house. Slightly wet the Magic Eraser and carefully clean the wall.

Hydrogen Peroxide:
If the Magic Eraser doesn't work you might try hydrogen peroxide. Pour some on a paper towel and place it over the stain on the wall so it sticks to the wall. Somehow cover it with something dark so light can't get to it. Hydrogen peroxide will turn to water when exposed to light.

Let sit for about 30 minutes, check it and you may have to repeat the process once or twice.

If these don't work you will need to repaint.

Received an email reply from eesl,

The first day I only had thumbtack holes in my wall and I was about to give up and paint. I tried it again and it seemed the stain was getting lighter.
Well,it took four days of peroxide and paper towels, but it is all gone.
THANKS!!!!!

Thanks for letting us and others know.

If it has a teflon coating it will surely come clean with water. Depends on the type of paint used and the quality.
