How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

Hello fraserdavey,
Welcome to the Mrs. Clean Forum!
Yes, light colored sofas show dirt and stains really well! Not to worry, though, you can get your sofa looking good as new again. Try these tricks to remove those unsightly stains:
• A clean towel dampened with warm soapy water can be used to ‘scrub’ the stains out. I would use a mild dish soap or baby shampoo to make your soapy water mixture. Be sure to wring your towel out very well, so that it is not sopping wet!
• You may want to try a product line called Procyon. They make an excellent carpet and upholstery cleaner. I have had amazing results with everything I have used it on! All of their products are soap free, non toxic, and environmentally safe. Procyon cleaners are available in many retail stores and online.
• A foaming carpet and upholstery cleaner like Resolve, may also work for these kinds of stains. You just spray the foam on and vacuum it up, taking the stain with it. This product is not safe for all fabrics, though, so do be careful!
• You may also want to try a carpet and upholstery steam cleaner.
As always, be sure to test these tricks on an inconspicuous area first.
Good luck, and let me know how it turns out!
