TANG in Carpet

Postby jcoconnor » Sat Nov 21, 2009 7:49 pm

I've tried Resolve - no good. My nephew is training as a Kirby salesman and came over today - no good.

I have an apartment inspection in about two weeks and have to get this orange TANG stain out.

Please help!

Hi Jim - there's nothing worse than stressing over getting someone else's carpet cleaned.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before cleaning the carpet:
    Always use cold water.
Never use detergent as this will leave a residue causing it to attract dirt in the future.
Always dab carpet when spot cleaning so the carpet fibers do not fray.
Below we have listed two different methods for you to try:

Hydrogen Peroxide Method:
First rinse the stained area with cold water to get rid of the sugar residue left behind from the Tang.

Important. Do not scrub the carpet fibers trying to remove the stain. Dab with a clean, light colored cloth.

Pour medicinal strength hydrogen peroxide; straight from the bottle (you can purchase this in your local grocery store), don't saturate the area but make sure the fibers are wet.

Message the hydrogen peroxide in with your fingers.
Cover the area with plastic wrap then cover with a towel. Hydrogen peroxide turns to water if exposed to light which is why you cover it with the towel.
After about an hour take a dry towel and dab the stained area to remove any excess liquid.
If you see this is working, try again.

If the above method either does not work or your not happy with the results try this:

Baking Powder Method:

Mix:
    1/2 cup baking powder
    2 quarts cold water
Spray this solution on the carpet then using a small steam cleaner, suck up the mixture.
This should help to lift the stain.
Again, if you see this working, go ahead and try it again.

Hi,
Method to remove tang stain:-
Remove much of the stain with a shop vac and spray it down with the help of carpet cleaner. Then cover the stain with a clean cloth and place an iron set on low on top of the rag for 15-20 minutes. The heat will cause the red stain to soak up into the cloth. Repeat this process with as many clean rags as necessary.
This method will fade out the stain, Do regular treatments over a period of time for cleaning. For more help you can call expert professional cleaners.

Thanks,
