Water stains on wallpaper

How to remove inorganic stains. Inorganic stains come from material that is not from a living organism such as lime and mineral deposits, rust, soap scum, and stains from chemicals.

Water stains on wallpaper

Is it at all possible to remove a water stain from noncoated paper wallpaper? It is old wallpaper that I am trying to preserve. We had our air ducts cleaned and they sprayed a water based disinfectant in the duct openings and sprayed on the wallpaper! I was so upset, both ducts in the room have terrible water stains (it has dried now) above the ducts. The company said "oh, it's a water based spray, it should be okay". Well, it isn't and there's no way I can ever replace this paper with something similar without spending tons of money on reproduction wallpaper.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

We have tested many different cleaning products to try to solve your problem.
Among the cleaners we tried: baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, CLR (Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover) and TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate) .
Unfortunately, nothing we tried actually worked to remove the water stain. I am sorry to say, I am really stumped on this one.
I would strongly suggest that you contact the company that is responsible for these stubborn stains, and remind them that they are obligated to fix them.
I wish you the best of luck on this matter!
Please let us know how it turns out.
